This article is devoted to the essence of the category "socio-cultural ", as one of the types of professional competence. It was determined on the basis of systematization of research on the general theory of professional competence and various approaches to socio-cultural activities and competence. In pedagogical science, there is quite a big difficulty in defining the essence of the concept of "socio-cultural competence", since it is closely interrelated with such categories as "intercultural competence", "ethno-cultural competence", "cultural competence", etc. However, in any case, common to each of these scientific categories is the second part, which correlates with the concept of "culture".

Social emotional learning (SEL) skills are the key components of the 21st century education that lead to higher academic, social and personal achievements of students. They support students, teachers and families to cooperate successfully to reach win-win position both in classroom and outside. It is recognized that language classes and language teachers are first-rate mediums for developing students’ SEL skills through authentic materials and activities. However, there is little research on SEL awareness of language teachers and implementation of SEL skills in teaching learning process in Uzbekistan. The study involved 16 EFL teachers through an online survey to collect quantitative data about SEL awareness of EFL teachers. This study aims to contribute
to the development of SEL focused teacher training curriculum to be implemented in professional development institutions through both pre-service and in-service trainings.

Intercultural competence is a system of linguistic and cultural knowledge that develops over the course of learning a foreign language. Such didactic strategies as a linguistic-conceptual approach to teaching a foreign language, engaging with real texts and videos, and corrective exercises targeted at removing potential communication failures aid in the development of intercultural competence.
In the pedagogy of language education, the importance of teaching English pragmatic competence has received considerable attention lately. As an attempt to contribute to the literature in this field, this study investigated the importance of teaching pragmatic competence in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. It explored the extent to which Uzbek EFL teachers implement pragmatic competence features in their daily classroom practice. It also identified the difficulties they encounter during classroom procedures and practices. In order to achieve the study objectives, a mixed pragmatic competence and other types of competence.
